Morning on the River, Afternoon on the Mountain
This is one of those days that reminds you why Central Oregon is hard to beat.
Start your morning on the Deschutes River Trail, easily accessed on Bend's West Side at Farewell Bend Park, just off Reed Market Road. The easy loop is about three miles—perfect for moving your body without overthinking it. You'll pass calm water, big sky, and just enough sunshine to convince you that today is going to be a good one. Along the way, you'll meet every breed of pet fur walking their people. It's part nature walk, part neighborhood social hour, and completely Bend.

Then—because this is Central Oregon—you change plans and change climates.
Head up to Mt. Bachelor, just a 30-minute drive up the hill, and suddenly you're in a totally different world. Cooler air, a full-on weather shift, and that unmistakable mountain buzz. You don't have to ski or snowboard to enjoy it. Grab a hot drink, soak in the enthusiasm, and watch the scene unfold. There's snow—no, not a ton right now—but enough to feel the magic and remind you winter isn't done with us yet.

River to mountain. Sneakers to snow boots. Same day.
It's not about doing it all—it's about how close it all is. And that's the real luxury of living here.
