Schools & Education
One of the most common inquiries from potential homebuyers in the Bend area has to do with schools. Bend-La Pine Schools is the fifth largest school district in Oregon with over 18,000 students. There are currently 31 schools; 19 elementary schools, 7 middle schools and 7 high schools including the new Caldera High, and numerous other programs such as online learning and the Bend International Program. Covering a distance of over 1,600 square miles, most of the area is served by bus transportation, however due to long bus rides it is common to see long lines of cars dropping off children before and after school each day. Overall, Bend schools continue to rank in the top 10% in the state with higher math and reading proficiency than the state average.
