Our never ending food journey in Central Oregon has brought us to a little food truck in one of Bend's newest food truck lots - Crosscut Warming Hut No. 5.
This charming location is modeled after the warming huts in the Deschutes National Forest that many locals and tourists alike snow shoe, ski, snow mobile, and maybe even dog sled to during the winter months. We felt the atmosphere was warm and inviting and we cannot wait to sit inside by the large fireplace when COVID allows again. However, despite not being able to use the indoor space, they had many tables set up outside with appropriate distancing, various warming options, and three food trucks. On this food adventure, we tried Abe Capanna's Detroit Pan Pizza + Italian and they did not disappoint us.

I know many of us feel like 2020 has been full of challenges with the restaurant industry having more than most. We love to support businesses who are making the best of a tough situation and figuring out ways to still serve the community. Our latest taste of the town was the Brown Owl in the Box Factory above the Old Mill.
Despite a strict order to not allow indoor dining, The Brown Owl has managed to create several intimate outdoor spaces that provide for proper social distancing and spacing around a wonderful center fire pit that keeps the whole space toasty despite temperatures being in the 30's. We were on the hunt for a quick bite and a drink and The Brown Owl absolutely delivered.
For beverages, we went for the classic Hot Toddy which featured wonderful honey and lemon flavors that were on point for a cold winter day and we also tried their featured "Snow Fall"...
At Bend Premier, we are always on the hunt for the next best bite in Bend, and today, we found an absolute gem. Tucked away in the back side of the popular Box Factory above The Old Mill, Valentine's Deli does have some "Seriously Good Sandwiches."
When it comes to vegetarian options, we always look for big flavor and an experience that makes you forget there is no meat. The Sierra sandwich at Valentine's Deli did just that. Each bite was an explosion of flavor and had me going back for more. This sandwich was toasted to perfection, giving a nice aromatic experience before even taking a bite. Featuring sun dried tomatoes, provolone, black olives, pepperoncini, arugula, lettuce, onion, tomato and red wine vinaigrette, this sandwich was packed with so many good flavors that married perfectly. We would highly recommend this sandwich to veggie and meat lovers alike.

Culture is a paramount piece of the Central Oregon community. During this temporary shut down it may feel like our community is losing its culture, but this situation is just challenging us to build something new. Here at Bend Premier Real Estate, we see the affects that COVID-19 is having on our community and we've decided to take this culture challenge and turn it into a platform to build upon.
What is Central Oregon Culture? While this is different for each individual, we think it is safe to say that collectively we love our outdoors and being active. And with the weather turning in our favor, most of us are getting outside to bike, hike, run, and explore. But we know that the first few rides, hikes, and runs can welcome a new soreness we haven't felt in sometime.
Most of us understand that muscle damage is part of exercise, whether you feel it today or tomorrow, it's just an aspect of pushing your body further and growing stronger. While injuries, tenderness, and soreness are prevalent in our active community, we understand that sometimes we need to relax, stretch, or fuel our bodies back to recovery so that we can get back to our sports and training as soon as possible. A huge factor in preventative, and recovery is nutrition.
While nutrition can be an intimidating topic for some, our friends at Fix & Repeat are on top of your nutritional needs in the form of bowls, smoothies, juices, and more. This company embodies the culture of Central Oregon. They provide their customers with the fuel needed for vitality, recovery, and do it in a sustainable manner. We are starting to call them the, "Do good, Eat good, Feel good" restaurant. Their diverse menu is focused on plant based meals. Each menu item has ingredients associated with a whole gamut of health benefits.
Some ingredients used are packed with macro and/or micro nutrients geared towards repairing muscle damage, free-radical fighting, and immunity boosting. All items are made to order, with the freshest ingredients possible. While these dishes are good for the body, they're also good for the soul. A portion of monthly sales are donated to various organizations and charities that align with Fix & Repeat's beliefs.
If you have not already checked out this restaurant, we highly recommend it! They are open 7 days a week from 10 am-3 pm. Ask for Leila or Kristen- those ladies know their stuff about plant-based benefits, and are so welcoming!
Suggestions you ask? We've recently tried the Rice bowl, Traditional Bowl, Mango Pride smoothie, and the Tropical Mango smoothie bowl, and we recommend all of them. Each meal provided us with different bold, dynamic, and fresh flavors, and the presentation alone was incredible.
Please help us continue to support local businesses such as Fix & Repeat during this uncertain time. You won't regret it!

In our ongoing effort to support local restaurants which are struggling during the Covid-19 restrictions, Bend Premier Real Estate Brokers are focusing on Miyagi Ramen this week.
Located in the Box Factory on Industrial Way near the Old Mill Shopping Center in Bend, we purchased the Black Sesame Dan Dan (spicy minced pork, baby bok choy, cilantro, lime and fermented black bean) and the Tonkotsu (chashu pork belly, nori, pickled burdock root, bamboo shoot, soft egg, scallion) and an order of Tempura Miatake Mushroom steamed buns (two per order). For a price of $33, we were totally satisfied and felt our meal was well priced and delicious. The to-go service was ready right when I arrived to pick up our meal; they would have walked the food out t...
