Central Oregon is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts from around the world. From the fabulous hiking, biking and skiing trails available in the Cascades, to the climbing at Smith Rock, to the many water options available to fish, boat and float on, there is an outdoor activity which should work for almost any person.
One hiking location which may not have had as much attention as others is Whychus Canyon. Located just outside Sisters, Oregon, Whychus Canyon is a 930 acre preserve which was established in 2010 with 480 acres added in 2014. The preserve encompasses 4 miles of Whychus Creek compete with a beautiful waterfall, has diverse vegetation and wildlife and has undergone signification restoration of the forest and stream. Just this year a new .9 mile easy hiking loop has opened which provides for some of the most stunning views of Central Oregon's Three Sisters Mountains. Rather than taking the full loop, there is a .5 mile handicap accessible option which takes hikers directly to the overlook.
