Maybe we’re late to the game but for this month's review we finally tried Sebastian’s at the Grove!

Let’s start with the Fish & Chips. Some of you may know our personal affinity for the British, and their food fairs. Well if you are also have that same affinity, we would Highly recommend Sebastian's fish and chips. While it not an entire fish, the nuggets they serve are the perfect ratio of fish to batter to flavors. Their breading is not overly greasy or dense but has a beautiful delicate buttery, herbed flavor which pairs perfectly with the LARGE chunk of fish it encases. Two giant fish nuggets on a bed of “chips” goes stunningly with tons of malt vinegar and will only set you back $18; fish portions are worth the price tag.

Yoli (Yo-Lee) simply translates to cuisine from Korean, but our experience was anything but simple. In our opinion this is the best Korean food in town. We went for lunch midweek and made a reservation in advance which is recommended especially once this place is found out!

The Bi Bim Bap bowl featuring Dakbulgogi (dock-bull-go-ghee) was our first entree which is a spiced Korean miso chicken. This bowl not only has the chicken but also rice, bean sprouts, mushrooms, kimchi, carrots, scallions, and is topped off with a perfect soft boiled egg. Each component had its own distinct flavor and texture which equally stood out and combined so well I couldn’t stop eating! Word of warning - when they say spiced they mean spiced!

This last week, we came across a small, local donut company that we absolutely had to try. Little Pine Donuts specializes in brioche donuts that are hand rolled and made fresh each morning using only the highest quality  ingredients. These delectable, filled donuts are light and fluffy and each flavor is unique and perfectly balanced. 







We decided to try one of each flavor of donut in our order today plus doubling up on the Nutella flavor. In addition to the Nutella, Little Pine offers Vanilla, Lemon, Strawberry Cream and Creme Brulee. Each flavor was just as delicious as the last, however, the Creme Brulee was our personal favorite with the donut topped with a nice crispy layer of sugar just like a traditional Creme

The culinary experiences in Central Oregon never cease to amaze us. From the countless brew pubs to fine dining, there is an abundance of food options for all palates. On our most recent Bend, Oregon food experience, we ventured to the Westside to try the offerings of Nome Italiano. This new Italian restaurant did not disappoint on our ladies' night.

Shortly after being seated, we discovered that the front of house manager is from Tuscany, and he was more than happy to hear that we were interested in enjoying a bottle of the Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano, a varietal not as well known in Central Oregon. In fact, throughout the expansive wine list with over 100 different bottles to choose from, there was only 1 Montepulciano. Needless to say, this wine

When trying the food fare around Bend, Oregon, there are many unique options to choose from. Today's experience brought us to a cute spot just one block away from our office in the Franklin Crossing Building in downtown. We had such a great time that we had to learn a bit more about this culinary delight's head chefs. From being private chefs on 205' International Mega Yachts to settling back down in Bend, Oregon with a small, boutique brunch spot, Mac and Betsy have truly made culinary their passion;  we had the opportunity to experience a small taste of their years of expertise this morning at The Lemon Tree.

Today's dining experience has taken us to a long standing café with great eats and great atmosphere. Café Sintra, named after the owner Manuel's hometown in Portugal near Lisbon, is always a great place to gather and today was no different. With a great soccer game on the TV and the hum of happy patrons chattering, you feel the warmth and excitement prior to even ordering your food.

DrinkWe decided to begin our experience with their home brewed jasmine fruit ice tea. This tea is wonderful down to the very last sip with bold spices and a touch of sweetness. It paired perfectly with the rich flavors of our lunch today.

The new Indian food cart in town does NOT disappoint! Anita’s Kitchen Gourmet Indian Food just recently opened during the thick of the pandemic, and we’re so happy it did! Antia’s does a great job of bringing Indian classic cuisine to Bend. We found the flavors to be on point, service was super fast, and the customer service was exceptional.


From the medium size food menu we decided to try a little bit of everything-and why not? Round one consisted of Samosas; a fried pastry filled with potatoes, onions, and a whole ton of spices. The flavor was on point and it was paired with a mint cilantro chutney dipping sauce which was quite the show stealer..

If we have learned anything from our time living in Bend Oregon, it is that there is not a lack of amazing cuisine in this great city. Our latest venture took us to one of Bend's newest restaurants, and their take on Old World style French and Italian specialties did not disappoint. Bosa Food & Drink is located in the old Bakery Building in the Galveston corridor and is a destination we will be going back to.

We began our meal with the Crostoni and the Meatballs. The grilled sourdough bread of the crostoni was perfectly grilled and crunchy and the simplicity of the sweet pea and white bean hummus paired so wonderfully with the pecorino and summer truffle. In the recent weeks, we have been driving on Galveston and noticing a random sign over The Dough Nut shop. The sign only seemed to appear after The Dough Nut had closed, so we simply had to know more. Walking by, the delectable smell of pizza filled the air and our curiosity grew even more. The pop up sign read "Fratelli" and we knew we had a new underground pizza place to try. 

Fratelli Pies features artisan Neapolitan black market pies made with simple ingredients and in-house cured & smoked meats. The simplicity of these pies only enhances the flavors and makes the pizza a delight to the taste buds. Ordering these pizzas was very simple. Today we had the pleasure of trying a newer food cart in Downtown Bend and I highly suspect we will be back to try more. The Dinky Dau was a pleasant surprise during our extremely busy Friday that was quick, under $10, and packed full of flavor. Featuring Banh Mi sandwiches, rice bowls, and other Asian inspired delights with various proteins including lemongrass pork or tempeh, ginger chicken, umami meatballs, tangy jackfruit, or a wok-fried omelet. 

Overall, we found our lemongrass pork banh mi sandwich to have wonderfully seasoned and cooked pork, the right amount of acidity from the pickled onions, cucumber and jalapeno, and a wonderful flavor profile overall with the cilantro and sauces.
