One of the most common inquiries from potential home buyers in the Bend area has to do with schools. Bend-La Pine Schools is the fifth largest school district in Oregon with over 17,500 students. There are currently 31 schools: 18 elementary schools, two K-8 schools, six middle schools, and five high schools. Covering a distance of over 1600 square miles, most of the area is served by bus transportation, however due to long bus rides it is common to see long lines of cars dropping off children before and after school each day.
